As much as I love my Kindle, I can’t see myself ever reading digital books to my kid. I’m just not that into technology and I think there’s something to be said for learning to love an actual book. If we were to switch to digital children’s books I would be scared that my kid would walk away with a greater love of the technology involved than of the story itself. Plus, isn’t there something to be said for walking over to the bookshelf and grabbing a new book to read each night? (Or, the same favorite book night after night, as the case may be.)
As such, I thought we’d begin a new regular series today, “Building Your Baby’s Library,” which will feature some of our favorite can’t miss baby and children’s books.
One of my baby showers asked guests to bring a children’s book to help build our library, and my sister got us this new version of What a Wonderful World, which immediately spoke to my travel-obsessed soul. This book is beautifully illustrated, and the words of the book are the lyrics to the classic Louis Armstrong song, What a Wonderful World. I have read this book through a couple of times (yes, pre-baby) and I think it’s impossible to read without actually singing.
This is a board book, so it’s good for little hands. The words are lovely and inspiring, of course, and if you and your family have the travel bug then I think this is a book you will all enjoy!
What a Wonderful World costs $13.40 at Barnes & Noble.
